PREP GIRLS BASKETBALL: Sectional pairings announced by IHSAA

Class 4A sectional at Concord; 3A at NorthWood; 2A at Central Noble; 1A at FW Canterbury.

GOSHEN — Sectional pairings for the 38th annual IHSAA girls state basketball tournament were released on Sunday.

A record number of 399 schools are entered in the event that begins with first-round games on Tuesday, Feb. 4.

Semifinals are Friday, Feb. 8 and championships on Saturday, Feb. 9.

The local Class 4A sectional is at Concord. On Tuesday, Elkhart Memorial and Warsaw meet in the first game followed by Goshen and Elkhart Central.

In the first semifinal Concord faces the Memorial-Warsaw winner followed by Northridge squaring off with the Goshen-Central winner.

The 3A sectional is at NorthWood with the host Black Swish facing Wawasee in the opener on Tuesday followed by West Noble and Tippecanoe Valley.

In the first semifinal, Fairfield meets the NorthWood-Wawasee winner while Lakeland squares off with the West Noble-Tippecanoe Valley winner in the second.

Central Noble is the local 2A host. On Tuesday, Bremen and Prairie Heights clash in the first game followed by Westview and Central Noble. LaVille faces the Bremen-Prairie Heights winner in the first semifinal followed by Fremont and the Westview-Central Noble winner.

The 1A sectional is at Fort Wayne Canterbury. Lakeland Christian Academy meets Hamilton in game one, Bethany Christian faces Howe School in game two, Elkhart Christian Academy squares of with Lakewood Park Christian in game three and Fort Wayne Blackhawk clashes with Canterbury in game four.

Winners of games one and two will square off the first semifinals followed by winners of games three and four.
