PREP BOYS BASKETBALL PREDICTIONS: Hoop pick swami gets back on track


GOSHEN — After a couple of off weeks in the high school boys basketball predictions things returned more of a normal basis with an excellent 11-1 mark (91.7 percent) on last week’s slate.

The Mishawaka Marian at Goshen game was postponed Tuesday and will carry over to next week.

The missed call last week was the Goshen Redskins over the Warsaw Tigers.

That puts the year-to-date mark at 82-47 (63.6).


Goshen at NorthWood ­ ­—  NorthWood was a 38-36 winner last season and the Panthers have taken 12 of the last 19 meetings with the Redskins. Both teams have good defenses as the Redskins are allowing 51.8 points per game compared to 50.3 for NorthWood. The Panthers might have a little more on offense with the average of 67.2 compared to 53.3 for Goshen. NorthWood.

Concord at Warsaw — Concord defeated Warsaw 61-46 a year ago at Concord. Warsaw has a 15-6 record versus the Minutemen over the past 15 seasons. Both teams have played Goshen this season. Concord won 54-30 while Warsaw lost 56-51. Concord’s last win in the series at Warsaw was a 51-43 decision in the 2004-05 season so the Minutemen are due. Concord.

Plymouth at Wawasee — The Plymouth Pilgrims have won five of their last six games while the Wawasee Warriors have dropped six in a row. Plymouth has an 11-6 record in recent meetings, including a 69-45 victory a year ago. Memorial is among the common opponents. Wawasee lost to the Chargers 70-57 and Plymouth won 68-51. Plymouth.

Fairfield at Westview — These two just played last Saturday in the championship of the NECC tournament with the Westview Warriors winning 52-49 in overtime. There is still plenty on the line in this one as both teams are still undefeated in conference play. Westview has controlled the series in recent years with 21 victories in the last 30 meetings with the Falcons. Westview.

Lakeland at Hamilton — Lakeland was a 65-50 winner last season and the Lakers are 15-0 in recent matchups with the Hamilton Marines. Lakeland.

West Noble at Fremont — The Fremont Eagles have an 11-8 edge in the series with the Chargers after last season’s 65-58 win. Both teams have squared off with Prairie Heights. West Noble was an 85-65 winner while Fremont dropped a 68-66 decision. West Noble.

Central at Mishawaka Marian — The Central Blue Blazers have won 11 of the last 14 meetings with the Knights, but Marian was a 71-57 winner last season. Marian is led by Notre Dame recruit Demetrius Jackson who is averaging over 28 points per game. Marian.


Northridge at Memorial — Northridge dropped a 66-45 decision to Memorial in last season’s sectional. Memorial has won 12 of the 20 20 games with the Raiders. Northridge has lost its last seven games, but three of those losses were by three or fewer points so the Raiders are due. Northridge.

Westview at Jimtown — Westview was a 56-47 winner last season and the Warriors have come out on top in 11 of the last 16 games with the Jimtown Jimmies. Northridge is among the common foes this season. Jimtown lost to the Raiders 57-43 while Westview posted an 81-73 win in triple overtime. Westview.

West Noble at Whitko — These two have not played over the past 15 seasons. Whitko has just two wins while the West Noble Chargers won 10 in a row before suffering their first loss to Westview (59-50) in the semifinals of the NECC tournament last Friday. West Noble.

Elkhart Christian at Howe School — The ECA Eagles posted a 62-48 win a year ago and have won six of the last eight meetings with the Wildcats. Howe has only one win so far this season while the Eagles have won seven of 11. ECA.


Bremen at Elkhart Christian — The Eagles were 71-61 winners a year ago and have won three of the last four contests with the Bremen Lions.

This could be a close one and playing at home might give the Eagles an edge. ECA.
