The Raider offense got off to a quick start, In the first eight minutes, Raider senior midfielder Brianne O’Dell scored the first goal off a keeper bobble.
“We were really excited for this game because of how the last couple of years have played out against Goshen,” said O’Dell.
With a frazzled Redskin defense, O’Dell went for a second goal only two minutes later in the half, putting the Raiders up 2-0 with 29 minutes to go in the first half.
The ball continued to stay on the Redskin side in the second half with the defense getting a work out as O’Dell continued to dominate the offense.
With 16:52 to go in the game, Northridge’s senior midfielder Jaymee Bowers kicked in an upper ninety shot just past Redskin goalie Alyssa Hershberger, upping the tally to 3-0 Raiders.
Ellie Lengacher, a sophomore forward and Lauren Blyly, a senior forward, later had back-to- back goals for the Raiders.
“It’s early in the season and we learn from every game,” Goshen coach Dan Graber said. “While we got beat by a better team, we have a lot of our schedule ahead.”
The Raiders outshot the Redskins, 26-8 and also won the corner kick edge, 5-0.
Hershberger had 13 saves for Goshen and Mallory Fletcher had six for the Raiders.
