GOSHEN — Former Northridge High School cross country and track standout Megan Jackson was recently hired as an assistant coach in the two sports at IUPUI.
Jackson will assist head coach Antonio McDaniel in all facets of the program, including training, recruiting, fund raising and academic oversight.
The 2010 graduate of the University of Arkansas, was most recently a graduate assistant at her alma mater. She completed her Master’s degree in Kinesiology-Exercise Science in 2013.
She earned All-American honors in the steeplechase in 2008 and was an Academic All-American throughout her college career. She also served on the Arkansas Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and was a two-time team captain for both the cross country and track programs.
Jackson earned SEC All-Academic First Team accolades every year of her collegiate career as well as being named to the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll all four years. She was also involved in the Fayetteville community, participating with the Arkansas Athletes Outreach (AAO) and Sweat Hawgs program. She also took part in the Lee Spencer Cup.
At Northridge, she was a four-time First Team All-State performer. She finished among the top 13 at the IHSAA state cross country meet all four years and was part of four conference and sectional championship teams and six squads that earned regional titles.
• Eastern Michigan freshman DuWhan Alford (Concord) played in 13 games this season for the Eagles (2-10 overall, 1-7 Mid-American Conference) catching 10 passes for 57 yards. He snared three passes for 16 yards versus Penn State and three for 19 against Army.
• Senior Karvel Anderson (Elkhart Memorial) scored nine points to go with two steals for Robert Morris in a 100-94 loss to Oakland.
• Ball State freshman Franko House (Concord) has played in all nine games (three starts) for the Cardinals (2-7) averaging 5.0 points per game. He is shooting 46.2 percent (18-of-39) on all field goals including 30.0 (3-of-10) on 3-point attempts and 54.5 (6-of-11) from the free-throw line. House has a total of 46 rebounds, nine assists and four blocks.
