Swami selects after unusual week

---- — GOSHEN — This has been a winter to remember — or one to forget if you are a high school athletic director trying to reschedule boys basketball games that had to be postponed due to weather conditions.

In what has been a rarity as of late, 24 of the 25 games slated for last week were actually played. The lone exception was NorthWood at John Glenn on Tuesday.

The total for last week’s predictions was 18-6 (75 percent), which puts the year-to-date one at 130-33 (79.8).

Friday

Westview at Goshen — The Goshen Redskins were 49-43 winners a year ago and have taken 13 of the last 20 meetings with the Warriors. Both teams are 3-2 versus common foes this season. Goshen is playing better since the return of Brady Bechtel to the lineup as the Redskins have won five in a row since a 53-48 overtime loss to NorthWood. This could be a close one and playing at home might give the Redskins the edge. Goshen.

Fairfield at Churubusco — These two just played last month in a consolation game of the NECC tournament with Fairfield winning 57-52. The Falcons have a 21-4 record against Churubusco in recent meetings. Fairfield has a 6-3 record versus common foes this season while Churubusco is 2-6. Fairfield.

Lakeland at Northridge — The Northridge Raiders were 51-36 winners last season. Northridge has won 20 of the last 23 matchups with the Lakers. Northridge has a 6-0 mark against common opponents so far this season and Lakeland 1-6. Nate Ritchie and company should be more than the Lakers can handle. Northridge.

West Noble at Hamilton — West Noble is 10-2 against common foes this season while Hamilton is 2-8. West Noble holds a 19-5 edge in recent meetings with the Marines following a 73-49 victory a year ago. West Noble.

Concord at Jimtown — Concord has an 18-2 lead in recent meetings with the Jimmies afterlast season’s 68-31 victory. The teams have played five common foes this season. Concord is 3-2 and Jimtown 0-5. Concord.

Bremen at NorthWood — The NorthWood Panthers were 82-66 winners last season. NorthWood has won 15 of the last 20 games with the Bremen Lions. Bremen is 0-8 against common opponents this season and NorthWood 7-0. NorthWood.

Wawasee at Fort Wayne South — The South Archers were 73-55 winners over the Warriors last season in the only meeting between the two schools in recent years. Northridge is a common foe this season. South dropped a 72-54 decision to the Raiders and Wawasee fell 65-42. FW South.

SB St. Joseph at Elkhart Central — The St. Joseph Indians were 76-69 winners last season while Central holds a 14-9 advantage in recent meetings. The Indians are 7-4 against common foes this season and Central 2-8. SB St. Joseph.

Saturday

Westview at Fairfield — Another matchup of teams that just played last month in the NECC tournament. Westview was a 71-55 winner in that game and the Warriors are 27-11 in recent meetings with the Falcons. Fairfield has won four of its last six games and Westview six of its last seven. Westview.

Columbia City at Northridge — Columbia City was a 59-48 winner last season and the Eagles have a 7-3 advantage in recent games with the Raiders. Among the common foes is Warsaw. Columbia City dropped a 46-35 decision to Warsaw while Northridge was a 58-56 winner. Northridge.

Angola at West Noble — West Noble posted a 54-40 win over the Angola Hornets in the NECC tournament, but Angola leads 19-6 in recent meetings. Angola has a 4-5 record against common foes this season while west Noble is 7-2. West Noble.

Argos at Elkhart Christian — The ECA Eagles were 45-42 winners last season. Argos has a 10-7 lead in recent meetings. Argos is 6-2 versus common foes this season and the Eagles are 7-0. ECA.
