25th Goshen JFL season concludes

Over 140 players in action at Pringle

The 25th season of the Goshen Junior Football League concluded Saturday at Pringle Park.

There are about 144 players (18 per team) in the league for ages 9 to 12 or grades 4 through 6 in the Goshen school system.

Team sponsors for 2009 were Bill’s Heating, Goshen FOP, Martin’s Super Market, Goshen Community Bank, Salem Insurance, Schmucker Heating, Forest River and Barkes, Kolbus & Rife Attorneys.

Following are scores and highlights from Week 6”

Niners 14, Colts 8 — John Boulton of the 49ers recovered a fumble which was caused by John Horn. Cameron Kline had 45 yards on nine carries with two touchdowns. Cole Goodman caught two passes and Kyler Altenhof one. Michael Pinarski and Jeff Stoll were also offensive contributors. Kline had seven tackles and a pass interception, Pinarski a fumble recovery and Zane Stoll good pass defense. Hunter Pearson, Noah Schwartz, Simon Myers and Adam Camarillo were good blockers.

Corbin Harrison scored the Colts’ touchdown while Jesse Gibson recovered a fumble, Broch Tauteris was a solid blocker, Christopher Hamilton had four tackles, Jacob Honey two strong blocks, Daniel Robles and Zachary Perez good blocking and Caelan England kicked a 2-point conversion.

Vikings 21, Raiders 0 — Dylan Back, Dave Marshall and Brock Christle tallied TDs for the Vikings. Andrew Weddle accounted for the extra points. Defensive stars were Gage Riegsecker with an interception, Marshall, Tito Lynn, Rodney Spencer, Chase Alexander and Jordan Cole. Taylor Glasgow had several long runs behind the blocking of Trevor Beer, Mark Jarvis and Ryan Spencer. Weddle and Back recovered fumbles.

Spencer Roose had a couple good runs for the Raiders and Jacob Curry completed a 15-yard pass to Jaime Sandoval. Line standouts were Christian Gonzales, John Andrews, Donnie Higdon, Dakota Hulsey and Brody Groves. Top defenders were Curry, Daniel Bowser, Bailey Eden, Mason Bledsoe, Daniel Sandoval, Brock Blankenbaker and Austin Whitford.

Redskins 12, Packers 0 — Bailey Gessinger scored both touchdowns for the Skins. Offensive line stars were Trace Lambert, Carter Cork, Derick Schmucker, Wilson Newell, Anthony Greenawalt, Lucas Miller, Salvador Garcia and Max Harmon. Sparking the shutout defense were Brady Hoke, Ben Hathaway, Zachary Buckmaster, Charlie Collins, Gilberto Garcia, Taylor Meikle, Derek Clark, Dylan Taylor and Andrew Miller.

Devin Love had a good game running the ball for the Packers. Ryan Bunger and Alec Lehr were excellent on defense. Blocking standouts were Brenden Dickeson, Matt Truex, Louis Macon, Ryan Bunger, Aidan Streit and Ethan Barnes. Connor Glick had a fine punting performance.

Cowboys 21, Bears 6 — Jesse Rhodes both caused and recovered a fumble for the Cowboys. There was fine blocking from Austin Turner, Miguel Navarro, Chase Knoblock, Nathaniel Wertz, Robertson Boucek and Nick Ragsdale. Navarro had 3 solos and 3 assists on defense while other standouts were Nate Herrmann, Wertz, Knoblock, Turner and Austin Marlow. Rhodes, Knoblock and Brady Bechtel had tackles for losses. Nate Herrmann, Logan Maynard and Rhodes had TD runs with Navarro kicking a 2-point conversion and Bechtel running for one point. Bechtel also picked up a fumble and gained 18 yards.

C.J. Detweiler had a 40-yard scoring run for the Bears. Kacy Hollis was also cited for good play.
