Senior Brianne Mault scored two goals as the Goshen High School girls soccer team opened its season Tuesday with a 4-0 victory at Elkhart Memorial.
Mault scored in the third minute on a high shot from about 18 yards. Senior Marcela Castillo tallied in the 48th minute on a breakaway.
Mault scored in the 51st minute, finishing off a back pass. Senior Jacqui Beckley scored in the 70th minute on a toe poke from 10 feet.
Shots on goal were even at 9-9 and Memorial had a 4-2 edge in corner kicks. Redskin senior keeper Lynn Weaver was credited with six saves.
Goshen, 1-0, travels to NorthWood on Thursday.
Goshen also won the junior varsity contest, 4-0, as Gabi Delgadillo netted two goals, Yadira Reyes and Sara Garcia both one. Jessica Schirch and Nayeli Lopez had assists.
