West Noble finishes with 22-10 record
The West Noble High School girls softball team won one game, then lost the finale in Class 3A regional action Saturday at Bellmont.
The Lady Chargers nipped Yorktown, 1-0, in eight innings while Bellmont topped New Haven 6-1 in semifinal action. Bellmont then won the title game, 14-1.
West Noble, capturing its first-ever sectional title in girls softball, finishes the season with a 22-10 record.
Elkhart Memorial sidelined by Lowell
Elkhart Memorial’s season came to an end with a 1-0 loss in 11 innings to Lowell in the championship game of a Class 4A regional at Merrillville.
Senior Erin Burleson and Lauren Wells of Lowell locked up in a classic pitcher’s duel. Burleson (15-4) had three strikeouts and a walk. Wells (15-6) struck out seven and walked none.
Wells led off the 11th with a double and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Megan Bolanowski.
Memorial finishes 24-7.
