Newell, GHS outduel Concord, Cameron

It was Natalie Newell and Goshen over Courtney Cameron and Concord, 2-0, Tuesday in a Northern Lakes Conference high school girls softball thriller at Dunlap.

Newell tossed a three-hitter and struck out 15 while Cameron permitted five hits and fanned five.

Newell and Britta Abney drove in Goshen’s runs with doubles in the fifth inning. Madison Hussey had walked to start the inning and Kirstie Medford sacrificed.

Goshen, 17-8 overall and 9-4 in the NLC, hosts NorthWood at 4:30 p.m. today to close out the league portion of its schedule.
