NorthWood swept Goshen in a Northern Lakes Conference high school baseball doubleheader Thursday at Phend Field.
The Panthers won the completion of a suspended game, 6-2, and then the regular contest, 4-2.
Dustin Bussard ripped a two-run homer and Chaz Bellman a solo shot for NorthWood in Game 1. Brock Bemiller had an RBI double and Derek Yoder two hits.
Skyler Titus pitched a five-hitter for the win.
Jake Drudge homered for Goshen and Brett Hunter had a sacrifice fly.
Christian Diemer’s two-run single in the top of the seventh inning was the big Panther hit of Game 2. Yoder had an RBI single and Ryne Garner walked with the bases loaded.
Diemer pitched a complete game, allowing six hits.
Josh Ortiz singled and doubled for the Redskins and Ethan Hussey had an RBI single.
Goshen, 10-10 overall and 8-6 in the NLC, plays an 11 a.m. Saturday doubleheader at LaPorte.
NorthWood, 7-11 and 5-7, hosts NLC champion Northridge at 5 p.m. today.
Junior Varsity
Goshen swept the JV games, 7-2 and 6-4, at Rogers Park and improved to 14-4 on the season.
Troy Pickard was the winning pitcher with five strikeouts in the opener. Tyler Schaaf and Pickard ripped doubles, Hector Castaneda singled and stole two bases. Miranda homered for NorthWood.
Scott Landis fanned seven as winning GHS pitcher in Game 2. Keean Pries had two singles, Nathan Swihart a double and two RBI. Beehler homered for the Panthers, Warren had three hits and Miranda two.
