Northridge clinches NLC baseball crown

The Northridge Raiders clinched a Northern Lakes Conference high school baseball championship Wednesday by winning a pair of decisions at Bill Nixon Field in Plymouth.

Northridge won, 6-2, in the completion of a suspended game and then 8-3 in the regular-scheduled contest.

Dustin Petersen had seven RBI in the two games for NHS. Lincoln Rassi and Cody Troyer were winning pitchers.

The Raiders are 20-2 overall and 12-1 in the NLC.

Junior Jesse Schrock singled home senior Anthony Roth with the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Westview Warriors trimmed Elkhart Central, 5-4, Tuesday at Westview.

Roth was the winning pitcher in relief of freshman starter Zac Mishler who struck out 12.

over South Bend St. Joe



Northridge defeated South Bend St. Joseph, 13-3, in a ‘C’ team game Tuesday at Middlebury.

Charlie Ottinger (1-1) was the winning pitcher. Leading hitters for the winners were Garett Yoder a home run, single, two RBI and five stolen bases; Cameron Nord a triple, double and three RBI; Ottinger a double, single and three RBI and Bryce Smith a double and single.
