Freshman Natalie Newell drove home the winning run Friday as the Goshen High School girls softball team nipped Warsaw, 2-1, at Shanklin Park.
The victory raises the Lady Redskins’ overall record to 8-9 and their NLC mark to 3-6.
Newell was also the winning pitcher with 10 strikeouts.
Junior Britta Abney and freshman Kaitlyn Troyer both added two singles to the Goshen attack.
The Redskins host Elkhart Memorial at 5 p.m. Monday, visit Plymouth on Wednesday and entertain Concord on Friday.
Warsaw won the junior varsity game Friday at Shanklin, 11-3. Jennifer Finney singled and tripled for GHS, now 6-8.
