GHS baseball team rallies at Plymouth

The Goshen High School baseball Redskins rallied from a 5-0 deficit for a 9-8 Northern Lakes Conference victory Monday at Plymouth.
It’s the first conference victory of the season for the Redskins who host Concord on Phend Field at 5 p.m. Wednesday. Goshen is 2-5 overall, 1-3 in the NLC.
Goshen tied the score with five runs in the third inning, then surged ahead with two-run rallies in the fourth and sixth. They were able to withstand a three-run burst by Plymouth in the sixth.
Junior Brett Hunter led a 13-hit Redskin attack by going 4-for-4 and driving in four runs. He also earned a save pitching with junior Spencer Oversen getting the win.
Senior Josh Ortiz ripped a three-run homer for Goshen, senior John Sevison and junior Brock Bender both had two hits.
The Redskins also played errorless ball.
Goshen’s junior varsity improved to 6-2 with a 5-4 win over Plymouth. Taylor Short was the winning pitcher and Troy Pickard picked up a save. Pickard also had two hits.
