The Goshen College women’s track and field team finished sixth among 18 squads Saturday in the Little State Championships at Indianapolis. The Maple Leaf men were 19th.
GC coach Rick Clark said, “The women’s team fared well and was only one point out of fifth place.
“Abri Houser (junior) again led the team with a runner-up finish in the 100-meter hurdles where she was only a body width away from taking the blue ribbon. She came back later to finish fifth in the 400 hurdles.
“Deanna Kronk (junior) helped lead field events with a third in the hammer throw and sixth in discus. Katie Sowers (senior) continued her steady performance in javelin with a second.
“Penina Acayo was third in high jump and seventh in triple jump.
“Kyle Laker (junior) was the only male Maple Leaf on the awards stand with a seventh in high jump.”
Goshen goes to the Manchester Classic next Saturday.Goshen Women
