THE DIRT ON GARDENING: Old breeds are great, but new hybrids can offer a lot

(Continued)

Man is always on the search for newer and better in all walks of life and agriculture and gardening is one of the most prolific research areas.

My greatest interest is flowers, so I’m always interested in what is “new on the market” in plant releases.

One of the largest hybridizers in the flower industry is “Proven Winners” of California, so I’m constantly on the watch for what they have to offer as “new.”

That’s why you see so many “PW” tags at all the garden centers each year. They are at the top of the list each year for hybridizing awards — not for only one but for many awards.

Just Google “Proven Winners” in their search engine on the computer and you’ll easily see what I mean. It will make you smile too!
