THE GOSHEN NEWS
GOSHEN — Goshen Community Schools will be holding three informational meetings for the public regarding the proposed building project scheduled to be voted on during the November referendum.
The meetings are scheduled as follows:
• Thursday, Sept. 5 at Goshen High School at 7 p.m.
• Tuesday, Sept. 10 at Goshen Middle School at 7 p.m.
• Monday, Sept. 16 at Goshen High School at 7 p.m.
Members of the Goshen Board of School Trustees gave their blessing to the pursuit of a $17.15 million renovation and construction project. That project would include building a new pool at either Goshen Middle School or Goshen High School, as well as the expansion of various music, physical education and classroom areas.
The proposal’s estimated $17.15 million price tag would most likely be funded either through Capital Projects Fund monies and/or a Building Corp. Bond Issue, with an anticipated impact on the Debt Service Fund tax rate of roughly 11 cents per $100 assessed valuation.
The special election will be Nov. 5. Voters in Elkhart precincts 1 to 21 will be eligible to vote on the question. Absentee ballots for the election will be mailed beginning Sept. 21 to people who have requested an absentee ballot. On Oct. 7 at 5 p.m. voter registration for the election will end. On Oct. 8 absentee voting in person will begin at locations yet to be determined.
