Three boys arrested on charges of arson, burglary in connection with old Goshen Inn fire

Three 15-year-old Goshen boys were arrested by Goshen police on preliminary charges of arson and burglary.

The charges stem from an arson and a burglary at the former Goshen Inn and Conference Center, 1375 Lincolnway East.

On Aug. 12, a fire erupted in the old Goshen Inn, causing about $150,000 damage. Investigators determined the fire had been deliberately started.

An investigation into the fire led to the arrest of the three boys. Police not only charged them with arson but also burglary. One of the boys was also arrested on a charge of damaging several properties in Goshen with graffiti over the past few months.

The boys were taken to the Elkhart County Juvenile Detention Center, pending their hearings, which are scheduled for today. The information from the case has been turned over to the Elkhart County Prosecutor.
