The rezoning for a new factory that will add 70 jobs to the Bristol area was approved by the Elkhart County Commissioners Monday morning.
About 22 acres along the north side of Commerce Drive, west of C.R. 29 in Washington Township, was rezoned from general planned unit development manufacturing 1 to a detailed planned unit development manufacturing 1 designation. The change will allow work to proceed on the Satellite Industries Inc. plant. The company is a global supplier of portable toilets, service trucks, restroom trailers and other sanitation products. The company plans to build a 106,000-square-foot factory. The plant is expected to cost up to $4 million to construct.
The company intends to begin hiring warehouse management, assembly, warehouse and office administration positions this spring. The plant is expected to be completed in August, according to company officials who spoke at a plan commission hearing in February.
The company will receive up to $675,000 in tax credits from the Indiana Economic Development Corp. based on its jobs-creation plan. The company is based in Minneapolis.
In other business Monday, the commissioners:

• Vacated the east-west alleys and north-south right of way between C.R. 13 and Depot Street south of C.R. 142 in Foraker.
