WAKARUSA — Five people were injured in a two-vehicle crash late this afternoon southeast of Wakarusa.

The mishap occurred around 5:20 p.m. at the intersection of Ind. 119 and C.R. 9 when a Chevrolet pickup truck and a Dodge Avenger collided.

Harrison Township Fire Chief John Martin said two children and an adult were in the Dodge car. The adult had to be extricated from the vehicle, Martin said. The fire chief also said there were two adults in the truck.

Four of the injured motorists were taken to Elkhart General Hospital for treatment. The driver of the truck declined to be transported to the hospital.

Martin said it was his understanding that no one was critically injured in the crash.
