Christmas is coming early.

A holiday-themed benefit concert is set for 6 p.m. Sunday at Ignition Garage, 120 E. Washington St. Tickets will be available at the door the day of the show for a suggested donation of $5 — or more, if concert-goers choose. The venue will open at 5:30 p.m.

The show is a production of Goshen’s GoShakes theatrical troupe.

“We have quite the line-up of performers,” said Carrie Lee Bland Kendall, GoShakes co-founder and creative director. “I’m really excited about that.”

Performers will include Always Vocal, the GoShakes a cappella sextet. Also on the bill will be Shiny Shiny Black, Jesse Stoltzfus, El Zarpe, Von Strantz, Beverly Lapp, Margaret and Michael Potuck, Hannah Livengood, The TumbleWeed Jumpers, The Dean’s List, and the GoProv comedy/improvisation troupe. Each artist or group will perform 10- to 15-minute sets.

A similar holiday concert took place last year at Gateway Cellar Winery, when local performers staged a benefit for Hurricane Sandy relief efforts.

“We decided to take that idea to the next level,” Bland Kendall said, indicating Sunday’s show will be an expanded version of the 2012 fundraiser.

Proceeds from the event will be given to the Red Cross for aid to the typhoon-ravaged Philippines. Audience members are also encouraged to donate a nonperishable food item at the show. Food donations will be given to The Window social service agency in Goshen.

Bland Kendall said the show will be a standing-room-only, family-oriented event.

“Anyone can come to the concert, as long as there’s room for them,” she said.

According to Steve Martin of Ignition Garage, Sunday’s show will be one of two at the venue this month highlighting local artists. The other will be on New Year’s Eve, when Andru Bemis, Von Strantz and Shiny Shiny Black are scheduled to play.
