Exploring faith at ‘Kingdom Rock’

Syracuse-area children invited to learn to stand strong

THE GOSHEN NEWS

— SYRACUSE — The Syracuse Church of God, 104 E. Washington St., will host this year’s communitywide vacation Bible school July 29 through Aug. 2 from 6 to 8:30 each evening. All community children, ages 3 years old through fifth grade (during the 2012-2013 school year), are invited to attend.

This year’s theme will be “Kingdom Rock.” Organizers said the Bible school will be a week-long adventure that empowers children to stand strong as they experience God’s word in fun ways. At Kingdom Rock, children will participate in Bible-learning activities, sing songs, play teamwork-building games, make and eat treats, experience epic Bible adventures, collect Bible memory buddies to remind them to stand strong and make crafts.

Children will also learn to look for evidence of God all around them through something called “God Sightings.”

Each day concludes with a “Fanfare Finale” — a celebration that gets everyone involved in living what they’ve learned. Family members and friends are invited to join in daily in the finale at 8 p.m.

Kids at Kingdom Rock will also join an international missions effort to share God’s love with children in India.

The communitywide VBS is sponsored by the Syracuse-Wawasee Ministerial Association.

In addition to the Syracuse Church of God, participating churches include Wawasee Lakeside Chapel, St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church and Calvary United Methodist Church. For more information about the vacation Bible school, call the Syracuse Church of God at 574-457-2796.

Parents may register their children in advance by emailing their child’s name, birthdate and address to syracusechurchofgod@gmail.com.
