Concord dance troupe qualifies for nationals

ELKHART — Concord High School Dancers received three first-place awards Saturday night in Senior Hip Hop Line, Senior Open Production and Senior Hip Hop Production at the Tremaine Dance Competition held in Schaumburg, Ill. The production hip hop number “Cinderwella Yo!” won the Senior Overall Best Showmanship award for the evening.

Concord sophomore, Shimmy Sar, won the Tremaine Freestyle Scholarship award, which is a scholarship to the Tremaine National Workshop and Competition.

These awards qualify the group to attend nationals in Orlando, Fla., July 6-11.

The group is in the process of a crowd-funding campaign to raise funds for nationals at http://igg.me/at/concorddance

The group is trying to raise $12,000, and according to the Web site, is at $1,615 with seven days to go.
