BARK FOR LIFE

Dog walk to raise money for cancer research

THE GOSHEN NEWS

— Cancer survivor Dr. Jill Windy of Noah’s Landing Pet Care Clinic, Elkhart, will be the grand marshal for the first Bark For Life of Elkhart County.

Held to raise awareness and funds for American Cancer Society research, the Bark For Life dog walk will be May 4 beginning at 1 p.m. at Walker Park, Elkhart. Organizers said that Bark For Life honors the care-giving qualities of canine companions. It also provides an opportunity to honor cancer survivors and to remember those who have lost their fight with the disease.

All registered dogs will receive a Bark For Life bandana. In addition to the walk, contests include: 1st Dog to Finish, Big Dog, Wee Doggie, Most Spirited Dog and Most Purple Attire Dog. Purple is the universal color of cancer survivorship.

The cost for advance registration is $15 for the first dog and $10 for each additional dog.

Day-of-event registration is $25 for the first dog.

Online registration is available at www.relayforlife.orgbarkelkhartcountyin.
