GOSHEN — For 40 years the Eighth Street Preschool has helped prepare children for their future education.
The school, located on Eighth Street inside Eighth Street Mennonite Church has served around 2,400 children since 1973, according to the school.
Angela Miller, preschool director said that the first classes that the school hosted had around 30 kids while today’s classes total 86.
The school, located at 602 S. Eighth St., will host an open house today from noon to 3 p.m. and current and past students, families and facility are invited to attend the event which will have food, a bounce house and a barrel train for children.
The preschool was organized in 1973 by parents of preschool children and interested persons, the school said.
The mission of the church is to, “Offer a quality, developmentally appropriate preschool in a Christian environment,” according to Miller.
Miller said that the school will be accepting donations at the event that will go toward supporting the school.
The school offers Spanish translation and scholarships to families in need.
