7-year-old Ligonier boy killed in accidental shooting

LIGONIER — A 7-year-old Ligonier boy was killed at his home Saturday in what Noble County authorities have ruled an accidental shooting.

According to the Noble County Sheriff’s Department, officers responded to a 911 call at 12:26 p.m. at 5211 W. C.R. 1100 North in Ligonier.

Police said that upon arriving at the residence they discovered that the boy, Jaylin Miller, had been struck and killed by a single gun shot.

Police said that Jaylin and his brother were outside in the yard attempting to shoot ground moles when the firearm was accidentally discharged by the brother. The bullet stuck and killed Jaylin, police said.

Noble County police and the Noble County coroner investigated the incident and determined the shooting was accidental.

Also assisting in the response was the Ligonier City Police Department and Noble County EMS.
