The Goshen College Performing Arts Series debuted on Sept. 21, 1997.
The 2013 concert season at Ignition Garage, 120 E. Washington St., Goshen, opens Jan. 13 with a performance by South Bend-based duo The Bergamot.
The Bergamot had a big year in 2012, according to Ignition’s Steve Martin, releasing its latest record “Static Flowers” on Dec. 4 and winning Bud Lite’s “Battle of the Bands” contest that put the group on the same stage as Pitbull, Brad Paisley, Young the Giant, and the All American Rejects at the Port Paradise Music Festival held in November in the Bahamas.
“We are excited to have the Bergamot host our first concert featuring local recording artists,” Martin said. “Jillian Speece and Nathan Hoff are breaking out to a much larger audience, and their music is the reason.” The Bergamot will be bringing its full band for the Jan. 13 performance.
Sharing the bill will be The Rutabega, a two-man “Carp Rock” band also from South Bend. The Rutabega’s 2012 “Bull Carp” EP was their sixth recording.
Tickets to the show are $15. For ticket and other information, visit the website www.ignitionmusic.net. The Ignition crew is planning to have 20 to 24 shows in 2013.
