The clerk-treasurer for the town of LaGrange, Michael D. Rowlison, 66 has been officially charged by Special Prosecutor Tom E. Wilson of Angola with three felonies.
Rowlison was arrested the afternoon of Nov. 13 due to a formal complaint filed by members of the Town Council and the town attorney. Officers from the LaGrange County Sheriff’s office and LaGrange Police Department have reported they searched his residence in LaGrange with his permission. Police said they found items at the home that were allegedly purchased with town funds.
Because Rowlison was an elected official and was arrested on a charge of official misconduct, the case was referred to the special prosecutor. Wilson filed the charges Wednesday in LaGrange County Circuit Court. He charged Rowlison with two Class D felony charges of theft and one Class D felony charge of official misconduct. The hearing date on the charges is set for Dec. 10 at 3 p.m. before Judge Scott Vanderbeck.
