Summer night out for the family Tuesday at GPL

Family summer night out

Join artist and funny man, Sam Bartlett, for stunts and fantastic contortions Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. This free program is for people of all ages. Registration is not required. He will also present a program at 2 p.m. for teens in sixth through 12th grades participating in the Teen Summer Reading Experience.

3 ... 2 ... 1 ... Experiment

The children’s summer reading program continues through July. Children in the second grade or younger will win a new book when they read 20 books by July 31. Children in the third through fifth grades will receive a new book when they have read 1,000 pages. All children can win incentive prizes and chances to win grand prizes.

Science kit

Children who visit the library this week can pick up a free science kit to take home, while supplies last. The kit is an experiment with force and motion.

Story Time Express

Children will hear stories about moving and motion at Story Time Express Wednesday and Thursday at 10:30 a.m. This free program is geared for preschoolers, ages 2-5. Registration is not required.

Book sale

The Friends of GPL will host a 50-cent book sale featuring fiction and non-fiction books, music CDs, movies, music and more July 24 from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium.

Seriously Science

Seriously Science, the Teen Summer Reading Experience, continues through July 19 and is open to students in the sixth through 12th grades. Participants are encouraged to read for fun and for prizes and take advantage of free events to explore the aerodynamics of kite building, create an art-making machine, gaze at celestial bodies, identify local flora and fauna or learn cheese making. Registration is required.

• Ox Bow Bio Blitz! Teens will explore native flora and fauna at Ox Bow County Park Saturday at 1 p.m. Zoologists will help those at attend identify birds, mammals, reptiles and more. Call for details.
