Fair weather, holiday crowd make Cruisin' Reunion a hit

GOSHEN — Positively perfect.

That’s how Kelly Kenny, event and media coordinator for Downtown Goshen Inc., described First Fridays annual “Goshen Cruisin’ Reunion” held Friday.

“The weather was perfect and I’ve heard nothing but positive comments. Having it on the Fourth of July amplified the event,” Kenny said. “We don’t have any official numbers but the attendance was above average, with estimates between 7,500 to 10,000 visitors. We had more food vendors and most of them sold out of food.”

She says the weather really made a difference in the attendance.

“It couldn’t have been any better,” Kenny said. “The Denny Diamond and the Jewels, a Neil Diamond cover band from Chicago that provided the soundtrack for the evening, added to the throwback feeling of simpler times.”

She had an opportunity to go cruising for the first time with friends during the Cruisin’ and was surprised at the number of classic vehicles.

“I got to ride around two or three blocks and it took about 25 minutes,” Kenny said, smiling. “It was fun.”
