Legends Ride to support families facing cancer

GOSHEN — All motorcycle enthusiasts are invited to take to the streets Saturday to support families facing cancer. The annual Legends Ride will start at noon from the parking lot in front of Hacienda Mexican Restaurant in Linway Plaza. Registration begins at 11 a.m.

To participate, riders donate $20 and passengers $10 to the work of the Marian Hoogenboom CARE House, a guest house for patients undergoing cancer treatment at IU Health Goshen Center for Cancer Care.

“The CARE House is a home away from home for cancer patients,” said Karen Boyd, board president of CARE Foundation Inc. “Dealing with cancer is hard enough without the wear and tear of traveling back and forth for treatment or paying a huge hotel bill. The CARE House is a place to feel at home without adding financial strain.”

The charity ride ends in downtown Goshen at Bosco’s Place, where the public is invited to join the riders for a hog roast and auction. The hog roast, provided by Dana J’s Deli, will be from 3 to 7 p.m., with tickets available in advance or at the door for $10 each.

The CARE House provides lodging for people traveling more than 50 miles to receive treatment at IU Health Goshen Center for Cancer Care. The CARE Foundation holds this annual fundraiser and accepts donations throughout the year so that there is no charge for guests to stay at the house. Cancer patients and a loved one can use the house to rest for a few hours, or to stay overnight for up to several weeks at a time during treatment.

For more information, or to donate items for the auction, contact Donna Cole at 574-238-4465 or visit 2ndannuallegendsride on Facebook.
