Lightning cause of house fire

GOSHEN — Wednesday evening’s storms are believed to be the cause of a house fire in Goshen.

According to a spokesperson for the Elkhart Township Fire Department, crews responded to a fire at 64037 C.R. 31 around 8:39 p.m. Wednesday.

The fire originated in the crawl space after lightning is believed to have struck the home.

Elkhart Township crews were on the seen for less than two hours.

No injuries were reported from the incident.

The incident remains under investigation.

According to county records, the home is owned by Nelson and Esther Lehman.
