SYRACUSE — For the past 17 years, Gisela Vore, a German immigrant, has worked at the Syracuse library.
She enjoys her role as children’s librarian, where she tells stories and interacts with children.
During her tenure at the library, Vore took classes to obtain an associate’s degree in early childhood development and worked at Syracuse Elementary School as an intern.
Vore said, “The staff, teachers and students have been very gracious and welcoming. Janelle Elztroth, a kindergarten teacher, is a model of positive interaction with children in the classroom.”
Doing the internship, Vore said, helped her recognize what children are able to do and to see how early learning skills relate to kindergarten activities.
Vore said she feels early childhood education represents one of the best contributions people can make in their community.
