U.S. Rep. Marlin Stutzman seeking re-election

U.S. Rep. Marlin Stutzman, R-3rd District, has filed for re-election.

“I’m asking Hoosiers to join me in taking Hoosier common-sense and conservative solutions to Washington,” Stutzman said in announcing his bid to retain his seat in the U.S. House.

If elected, Stutzman would serve a third full-term. He was first appointed to the office when former Rep. Mark Souder resigned after admitting to an extramarital affair.

“Today, I’m asking Hoosiers to join me in taking Hoosier common-sense and conservative solutions to Washington. I was elected to fight for smaller, more efficient government and defend our Hoosier values and I’ve done exactly that,” Stuzman said. “We stood up to business as usual by splitting the Farm Bill, fighting Obama care’s budget-busting spending and taxes, and protecting jobs right here in Indiana. It hasn’t been easy and there’s more work ahead. I’m eager to continue that work together.”

Before being appointed to the U.S. House in Nov. 2010, Stutzman was a representative in the Indiana House from 2002 to 2008 and then was elected to the Indiana Senate in 2008.

Stutzman is from Howe and is co-owner of a 4,000 acre family farm. He and his wife Christy are parents of two sons.

Indiana’s 3rd District covers all of Adams, Allen, DeKalb, Huntington, Jay, LaGrange, Noble, Steuben, Wells, and Whitley counties, as well as portions of Blackford and Kosciusko counties.
