Pence deeply saddened by deadly N. Ind. shooting
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Gov. Mike Pence says he's deeply saddened by a shooting at an Elkhart grocery store that left two women dead.
Pence said in a statement Thursday that he also commends the Elkhart Police Department "for courageously intervening and bringing the incident to a swift conclusion."
Police say the 22-year-old gunman entered a Martin's Super Market in Elkhart late Wednesday and fatally shot a 20-year-old store employee and a 44-year-old shopper.
Two Elkhart officers shot the man inside the store after he pointed a gun at a third person.
Pence says he and his wife extend their condolences to the victims' families and are praying for the entire community.
