Craft group


The next Calling All Crafters meeting is set for 6 p.m. Tuesday. Participants can work on their current project, and those without a project are invited to stop by and learn a new craft.

Soul, Ink

Members of the Soul, Ink writing group have put together a variety of stories, essays and poems available at the library. A copy of the local authors’ work is available for $5.

Writers of all ages and working in all genres are invited to be part of the group. The next Soul, Ink meeting is scheduled for July 17 at 6 p.m.  

Book Club

The Book Club’s next meeting is set for Wednesday at noon. The selection will be “The Cat Who Played Post Office” by Lilian Jackson Braun. Copies will be available at the circulation desk.

‘Book & Cookies Sale’

The Friends of the Library group is sponsoring the Books & Cookies Sale Thursday from noon to 7 p.m., Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Donations of cookies will be accepted. Call 848-7458 for more information.

Activities


Upcoming activities in the “Kids Dig into Summer Reading Program” include:

• Tuesday at 1 p.m. — Elkhart Parks Department staffers will be present the program “Underground Animals: Animals That Live and Sleep Underground.”

• Thursday at 1 p.m. — “Let’s Rock,” a program about different types of rocks, will be presented.

• July 15 at 11 a.m. — The hit ’80s movie “The Goonies” will be shown.

• July 16 at 10 a.m. — A Potawatomi Zoo program is planned. Registration is required.

• July 18 at 10 a.m. — The program will focus on stalactites and stalagmites, and what it’s like to be in a cave.

‘Yak, Snack and Read’

The second “Yak” book discussion session of the summer is set for Tuesday. The 1 p.m. group will discuss “The Last Camellia: A Novel” by Sarah Jio and the 7 p.m. group will discuss Wallace Stegner’s “Angle of Repose.” There is still time to register for the informal book discussion group. ‘Zombies vs. Humans’

Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m., “Zombies vs. Humans” will take place as part of the Teen Summer Reading Program. Library staffers describe the event as an intense outdoor game. Nerf guns and “sock” grenades will be provided.

Those wanting to provide their own Nerf guns are asked to consult with library staff.

‘Teen Hobbit Hoe-Down’

Saturday from 1 to 6 p.m., teens are invited to watch the “Hobbit” film, play games and dress up as a Hobbit.
