Milford Fest activities to fill Saturday

MILFORD — Milford Fest will take place in downtown Milford Saturday.

Events begin at 7 a.m. and continue through 9 p.m.

Schedule of Events

7 to 11 a.m. — Kiwanis Pancake and Sausage Breakfast, Community Building

8 a.m. to 1 p.m. — Communitywide garage sales

9 a.m. to 3 p.m. — Car/Tractor/Motorcycle Show (Registration: 9 to 11 a.m. Awards: 3 p.m.)

10 a.m. to 4 p.m. — Friends of the Library Book Sale, Milford Public Library

10 a.m. to 9 p.m. — Food and arts and craft vendors

10 a.m. to 9 p.m. — Car Smash provided by Stuckman’s Salvage & Glen’s Wrecker Service

11 a.m. to 9 p.m. — Free carnival rides

11 a.m. to 3 p.m. — Free pony rides

11 a.m. to 2 p.m. — Ribeye steak sandwiches, fire station

4 to 9 p.m. — Milford Lions beef and pork burgers

Stage Events/Entertainment

9:30 to 9:45 a.m. — Sign-in for Cutie King/Queen and Prince/Princess at the Main Street Stage.

The contest is for children ages 2 to 5. The dress is casual. Free advance registration forms are required and are located at the Milford Public Library and Town Clerk’s Office. An entrant must live (or have a grandparent’s address) in the Milford School District to win.

10 to 10:45 a.m. — Cutie King/Queen and Prince/Princess contest at the Main Street Stage

11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. — Living Word (gospel)

12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. — Restless Leg Syndrome (blues)

2 to 3:15 p.m. — Captain Bob (oldies)

3:30 to 4:45 p.m. — Milford Talent Showcase

5 p.m. — Announcement/crowning of Senior King/Queen

5:30 to 9 p.m. — Street dance, featuring Big Daddy Dupree and The Broke And Hungry Blues Band

There has been discussion at West Goshen Elementary School to require mandatory student uniforms in the future. How do you feel about the prospect of mandatory student uniforms in a public school environment?

I think it’s an excellent idea that is way overdue
