THE GOSHEN NEWS
The Nappanee Public Library held its annual appreciation event for volunteers Aug. 9. More than 80 guests attended the luncheon at the library, which honored the many volunteers who have helped provide services and programs during the past year.
Since August 2011, around 150 library volunteers worked more than 5,000 hours shelving books, preparing new materials for circulation, helping with programs and special projects, tutoring, assembling mailings, staffing the Evelyn Lehman Culp Heritage Center and assisting with many other jobs.
Library Director Lissa Krull explained that this translates into the hours of more than two full-time positions.
“The work our volunteers do allows our staff to focus more customer interaction, and we are so grateful for all the time, talent and effort they have given the library over the past 12 months,” Krull said.
“Our team of volunteers is absolutely vital to all that NPL does on a weekly basis,” said Volunteer Coordinator Lana McCoy. “It is our pleasure for this outstanding team to come alongside NPL and our mission. We can accomplish so much more when we all work together. NPL is a great place to volunteer, and we appreciate everyone who gives their time and talents.”
