A van and a horse-drawn vehicle collided today on Ind. 119, between C.R.s 15 and 38, around 5:35 p.m.
Elkhart County police spokesman Capt. Jim Bradberry confirmed shortly before 8 p.m. that someone had died as a result of the crash.
That person was later identified as 51-year-old Ammon Imhoff of Goshen.
Earlier, police at the scene said two people were injured in the crash southwest of Goshen. Emergency dispatchers confirmed that one person, which was Imhoff, was thrown from the horse-drawn vehicle.
WSBT-TV reported Thursday night that the driver of the van involved, Shirley Leyva-Diaz, 52, of Goshen was taken to IU Health Goshen Hospital to be treated for chest pain
Dispatchers also said that Medflight air ambulance was called to the scene, and the crew made it about halfway there from their base at South Bend Memorial Hospital. However, weather conditions changed and the helicopter was flown back to the hospital.
