Essays published in ‘Cup of Comfort’

THE GOSHEN NEWS

Two essays by a local woman describing her family’s struggle with Alzheimer’s disease have been included in the recently published inspirational book “Cup of Comfort: For Families Touched by Alzheimer’s.”

Rev. Yvonne Riege, formerly a pastor at City Church of the Brethren in Goshen, said the “hope-filled” book is designed to be uplifting for family members of people with Alzheimer’s. Riege writes about her experiences with her mother, who suffers from the disease.

The Cup of Comfort’s editor received more than 2,000 submissions for the book. Riege was one of only two authors in the book to have two essays published in the edition.

Riege heard of the book through her aunt (her mother’s sister) in Columbus, Ohio, who often works on writing projects with her.

Riege was notified in January that two of her three submissions had made the book. She was also told that one of those essays was in the running for the grand prize entry.

Riege will be at two local locations Friday and Dec. 9, where the public can purchase books and have them signed.

Riege will be signing copies of the book at Better World Books on Washington Street in downtown Goshen Friday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and at Greencroft’s Manor 4 Dec. 9 from 4 to 6 p.m.

Cup of Comfort is also available online, including Barnes and Noble and Amazon Web sites.
