Employees commended for fast response

MILLERSBURG, Ind. — A water main break last Thursday on Larimer Drive created a huge inconvenience for residents, as well as town employees.

Council president Jim Winkler thanked town employees for efficiently and quickly repairing the damage.

“The repairs were done and backfilled all in one day. I commend you for your teamwork,” Winkler said.

Even though the main broke, Utility Superintendent Ben Eldridge added that a boil order was not issued because the main did not lose pressure.

Maintenance Superintendent Matt King updated the council on town leaf pickup.

“As of this afternoon, we’ve picked up all but a few piles, but I’m sure with the rain, that will change,” King said.

King added that he can’t get through the entire town in a single day, so some overlap should be expected. He also reminded residents to make sure their leaf piles are away from obstacles, including mailboxes.

King’s department is still waiting on a shipment of salt to be delivered for winter road use, and anticipate its arrival within the next few weeks.

“We have enough to get started,” King said.

New cutting edges and feet for the plows have been purchased for seasonal use as well.

“We’re ready to go except for the salt,” King said.
