Goshen police charged a young man with armed robbery of a fast food restaurant Tuesday night.
Police received a call through the 911 system of an attempted armed robbery at Taco Bell, 701 W. Pike St. at 10:11 p.m. The caller said a black man wearing a ski mask and carrying a black handgun drove to the drive-up window and demanded cash. The clerk ran from the window and the man drove from the restaurant.
Minutes later police stopped a man fitting the description and driving a white Oldsmobile Alero at Fifth and Madison streets. The young man had a ski mask and “an imitation gun,” according to Goshen Adjutant Joe Brown.
Arrested was Lebrian D. Pates, 20, 1310 Cedarbrook Apt. I. He was booked into the county jail on a charge of armed robbery, a Class B felony. He was held without bond until a hearing later today before a magistrate.
Information on the incident will be forwarded to the county prosecutor, Brown said.
Conviction of a Class B felony may result in a prison sentence of up to 20 years.
