After the fourth-driest August on record, some welcome precipitation is expected in the next couple days.
According to National Weather Service Meteorologist Lonnie Fisher, some remnants of Hurricane Gustav are expected to hit northern Indiana, with a chance of thunderstorms beginning tonight and continuing throughout Friday.
Fisher said that the precipitation is likely due to a storm front passing through and Gustav being close enough that the outer portion of it will produce rain in our area.
“The best chances are in northwest Indiana and northeast Illinois,” Fisher said.
Fisher estimated that chances of thunderstorms in the area are between 40 and 50 percent at this point.
