Man dies in all-terrain vehicle mishap

ATTICA, Ind. — A LaGrange man is dead after an all-terrain vehicle accident near Attica Sunday.

Steven M. Mynhier, 50, died from blunt force crushing injuries to his chest according to a press release from the Fountain County Coroner’s Office.

Mynhier was climbing an incline in an ATV at Badlands Off Road Park when witnesses say he hit a rock, which began to overturn the vehicle, throwing him off.

The 600-pound ATV rolled backward and landed on his chest. Friends of Mynhier immediately attempted CPR but were unable to revive him, the coroner’s office said.

The cause of death was ruled accidental and no drugs or alcohol were thought to be involved.

The accident was investigated by Conservation Officer Darin Streur and Chief Deputy Coroner Wallace Hooker. Assisting in the recovery were Attica Fire and Rescue and Warren County EMS.
