In the coming weeks The Goshen News is going to reach out and help Monaco Coach workers and others in the community who will be losing their job, or already have lost their job, due to layoffs. Monaco announced Thursday that 1,400 jobs in Wakarusa, Nappanee and Elkhart will be terminated by mid-September.
With the desire to provide workers opportunities to find new jobs, The News will begin Thursday highlighting new job openings in our community on Page 1. Also, those workers who are seeking new positions will be able to place free “job wanted” ads in our classified ads section. The new category for those adds will be 302.
In addition, our News subscribers who will be laid off or are already laid off, may receive discounted subscriptions by calling our office at 533-2151, ext. 346.
The Goshen News will also regularly publish a directory of businesses in the community that have also made put in place special discounts or other offers of assistance for those who have lost their jobs. “We want our newspaper to be our communities’ best friend,” said Jim Kroemer, News publisher. “If any company is offering anything to help those in need please e-mail me.”
Kroemer’s e-mail is jim.kroemer@goshennews.com.
