Women tied up in robbery

ELKHART, Ind. — Two women — one of them pregnant — were tied up during a robbery in Elkhart Friday.

This is the third time Rosa’s Joyeria (jewelry store) has been robbed, according to Elkhart police.

At approximately 10:35 a.m., a panic alarm sounded at the store, 2337 S. Main St.

Cpl. Alan Williamson found that two women in the store, the owner and a 24-year old customer who was pregnant, had been tied up during the robbery.

The robber stole several pieces of jewelry and cash, then fled. The pregnant woman freed herself from the ropes after the robbery and then cut the ropes off of the owner before officers arrived.

The robbers were described as two Latino males in their early 20s who were clean cut, with short hair, no facial hair and one of the suspects had a handgun during the robbery.

The prior robberies occurred in July and September of 2007.

Anyone with information regarding this robbery is asked to call the Elkhart Police Department at 295-7070 or Crime Stoppers at 288-STOP.
