By DENISE FEDOROW

Ball State University students and Associate Professor Scott Truex are conducting research in Nappanee on how the city and its residents can become more environmentally focused. The program is called “Coffee, Community and Climate Change — a Greener Nappanee.” As part of the program they are hosting a Green Summit, which will be held July 21.

Nappanee Missionary Church was previously announced as the location for the summit, however that has been changed to Electric Motor Car Headquarters at 905 Nelsons Parkway, Wakarusa (the former DeMartini Building.)

Presenters from all over the country will be speaking including, Wil Cashen, Electric Motors Corp.; Jesse Kharbanda, executive director of Hoosier Environmental Council; Jo Ann Gora, president of Ball State University; Diane Meyer Simon, former Nappanee resident and president emeritus of Global Green USA along with her Chief Executive Officer Matt Peterson; William Brown, director of sustainability of Indiana University; Gordon Moore, McCormick Motors; and Dwayne Borkholder, Borkholder Building and others.

The summit will be held from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and coffee. Lunch and dinner will be served by local vendors. The summit is open to the public.

Registration fees are: Full registration, including lunch and dinner, $75; day-only registration (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.), including lunch $55; Ball State University students, including lunch and dinner, $45; Ball State alumni, including lunch and dinner, $45; Nappanee residents, including lunch and dinner, $45; and ride your bike or buggy to the summit, $40 (including lunch and dinner).

Register by July 17 for these prices. After July 17 each rate will increase by $30. To register, visit the Web site at www.agreenernappanee.org.
