Topeka Quilt Show and Sale begins today

Eden Worship Center hosting event.

The Topeka Quilt Show and Sale, celebrating its 35th year, opens today and continues through Saturday in the historic Honeyville School, which is now the home of Eden Worship Center.

The theme of this year’s show is “Lighting the Trail.” Hundreds of handcrafted quilts and quilted wall hangings will be on display and available for purchase. Numerous vendors will also be on hand with quilted items and supplies for purchase.

Show dates and times are today through Friday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. Admission is $5.

Honeyville resident Sue Christner was the originator of the Topeka Quilt Show and Sale for a number of years. The event outgrew its original facility and was move to Topeka United Methodist Church, where it remained for 20 years and continued to grow.

At the request of Methodist organizers, the show was moved back to Honeyville in 2008.

“This year we are partnering with the Shipshewana Quilt Festival as one of the “Backroads Shop Hops,’” said Eden Pastor Harold Gingerich.

“We are very excited that our quilt block, “Lighting the Trail,” was chosen to be the center block of the quilted wall hanging.”
