Library to launch summer concert series

The Ligonier Public Library in celebrating its 100th anniversary is having fireworks at dark tonight and will also be offering free concerts at 7 p.m. each Friday this summer

Each week will feature a different musician or band, according to library officials.

Farmers market

A farmers market will open Saturday mornings at the Discovery Express parking lot on South Cavin Street, on the north edge of downtown Ligonier.

Those interested in participating in the market should call the Ligonier Parks Department at (260) 894-7344.

Relay for Life

Ligonier residents will be joining others from Noble County in the 2008 Noble County Relay for Life fund-raiser for cancer treatment Saturday and Sunday at West Noble High School.

Operation Foundation

Operation Foundation 2008 offers Ligonier residents an opportunity to join in a week-long city improvement festival Monday through June 30.

Local residents are asked to volunteer for a range of city projects, from River Walk cleanup to city parks and recreation projects to downtown cleanup.

City Zoning Administrator Wayne Fox reports that volunteers have already surpassed 400, and the organization is lining up additional projects.

Golf outing

The Ligonier Lions Club 15th annual golf outing is scheduled for June 27 at Timber Ridge Golf Course in Millersburg.

Registration begins at noon, with a 1 p.m. start.

The scramble format encourages four-person teams, with a $65 entry fee per person. The fee includes all golfing costs, awards and dinner.

Teams will be placed in flights after playing.
