Wawasee Flotilla to support troops

By Deb Peterson
Correspondent

The Wawasee Flotilla Committee is suggesting the theme of “Supporting the Troops” for the 31st annual Flotilla.

The annual boat parade on Lake Wawasee is scheduled for July 12, and two special entries will support the theme. Members of the Indiana National Guard, Warsaw, will be guests and patriotic music will be played from three boats.

Two servicemen from the area who lost their lives while on duty will be honored with the last entry in the flotilla. Maj. Todd Fiscus, Milford, died in Afghanistan March 25, 2005. Staff Sgt. James Snyder, formerly of Syracuse, died May 10 of this year.

The Flotilla Road Race will take place July 5, beginning at Lakeside Park at 8 a.m. The three events include an 8-mile run, a 3.3-mile run and a 3.3 mile walk.

Awards will be presented in age groups from 12 and younger through 70 and older. Entry forms are available at Logan-Rogers Realty, Chicago and North Huntington streets.
