Two current legislators and a former lawmaker are among those seeking to take the spot of Senate Appropriations Chairman Robert Meeks on the Republican ballot this fall.
Meeks announced last month that he was dropping his bid for a sixth term from Senate District 13 in northeastern Indiana because of a stroke he suffered in February.
Those seeking to replace him on the GOP ballot are state Reps. Matt Bell of Avilla and Marlin Stutzman of Howe, former Rep. Brad Fox of Rome City and Sue Ann Mitchell, a former Kosciusko County auditor and assessor.
The new candidate will be picked by Republican precinct committee members during a caucus Saturday in Kendallville. Senate District 13 covers LaGrange, Noble and parts of DeKalb, Kosciusko and Steuben counties.
The new candidate will face Democrat Fred Demske in the November election.
